My father died just over a year ago. My mother is still alive. Neither are/were members of the LDS church. Since my father was not a member of the church I want him to have the opportunity to accept the gospel in the "afterlife" and if he accepts the gospel I want him to have the chance to be baptised into the church by proxy (me).
I've read or heard somewhere that I need to have permission of the immediate family before any of this can be performed.
Do I need to have my living mothers permission before I proceed?
I'm his son, is my consent adequate?

The permission of the closest living relative is needed before you do the temple work. In this case, your mother is the closest living relative and her agreement is necessary. Explain to her your belief and ask if she is OK with you doing the temple work for your father. |
